PATNA: Dr. Dilip Kumar Singh, a 97-year-old Padma Shri awardee from Bhagalpur, Bihar, has been recorded by the World Record of Excellence, England, for his extraordinary contributions to leprosy care in India. He holds the unique distinction of being the first and only medical professional to have located, treated, and rehabilitated 340 leprosy patients across the country—a mission inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s words in 1946.
Dr. Singh was formally presented with the Certificate of Record by the World Record of Excellence. On receiving the honor, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the organization, emphasizing the enduring influence of Gandhian ideals on his lifelong commitment to public health.
